U.S. Financial Market Update: The Week Ahead Aug 7, 2023– DID U.S. INFLATION REACCELERATE IN JULY?On Thursday morning, July consumer price index (CPI) data is projected to show the annual rate of headline inflation in the U.S. picked up slightly to 3.3% from a 27-month low of 3.0% in the twelve months spanning July 2022 to June 2023. A 6% monthly gain in the AAA daily national average price for a gallon of retail gasoline from $3.53 on June 30 to an 8-month high of $3.75 on July 31 is likely to have prevented further cooling of CPI last month.– DISNEY EARNINGS:After the market closes Wednesday, Disney (DIS) reports fiscal third quarter results. All eyes will be on the company’s progress toward streaming segment profitability, plans for its ESPN segment and challenges related to the Hollywood writers and actors strikes. In a CNBC interview three weeks ago, CEO Bob Iger described the company’s linear TV assets as “noncore”, including ESPN and networks ABC, FX, and Freeform. Iger recently recruited two former high-level DIS executives to help lead an effort to find a strategic partner for the company’s ESPN segment. On July 12, the DIS board extended Iger’s contract through the end of 2024 to provide more time to implement his strategic turnaround and find a successor.Read the fullU.S. Financial Market Update: The Week Ahead Aug. 7, 2023here.https://lnkd.in/gmctqKNh#marketanalysis #marketanalysis #weekahead #earnings #CPI #stockmarket #bondmarket #centier #centierfinancialpartners #wealthmanagement #privatebank

Mish’s Daily: Key Market Relationships for Next Big MoveOctober 24, 2023First off, we are heading out of town to New York where I will be visiting in studio several media channels and hosts. Then, we are off to Orlando for the MoneyShow November 1st, Keith and I go on vacation until the middle of the month. This is the last Daily I will be writing for awhile. However, I will have several clips in the next few days to share and Geoff Bysshe will be occasionally writing the Daily in my absence. With that said, today I began the day with Benzinga Market Prep Show.I am featuring this today as content because I hope it helps you look at the market objectively. We did not discuss inflation, which as you are aware of, I believe can go hyper as geopolitical stress, social unrest, strikes for higher wages and mother nature could each or worse, all, kick into gear.We discussed bonds, small caps, commercial real estate, retail, and a couple of stocks. In that discussion, and on the heels of Bill Ackman’s statements along with our own technical indicators, we spell out the exact relationships to watch.Monday’s Daily explained how much long bonds factor into the equity (and commodity) equation. We also cover small caps and the monthly charts, along with SPY, QQQ, Transports (IYT) and Retail (XRT).If the decades have taught me anything, it’s that the simpler you can make the definitions, the better the comprehension. It is with that in mind that we show you how easy it will be in just a short time, to see where this market heads next.Link to video: https://lnkd.in/efJUB9vSTo analysis: https://lnkd.in/eEjryqtS

I didn't get a chance to close out 2023, sorry for the delay. It is almost common knowledge that the market and the firms on the Street have a great fascination with predictions and forecasts. Unfortunately, these attempts to predict the future based on assumptions and probabilities will unfortunately often miss their mark. As we think back to 2023 it was a year ripe with predictions and forecasts. But in retrospect few of those forecasts came to pass, at least in the time frames that they were expected to occur.Read the Q4 Market Update Newsletter "Closing the Door on 2023" #MarshallTepperGroup #MarketUpdate
