Teddi Mellencamp and her sister Justice Mellencamp approved of dad John Mellencamp’s relationship with Meg Ryan.
“Obviously we were ecstatic,’ Justice, 40, revealed on the Sunday, April 20, episode of iHeartRadio’s “Two T’s in a Pod” podcast. “We were like, ‘What? How?’ She was the nicest. I mean, right off the bat. Well, compared to some other people dad dated.”
John, 73 and Ryan, 63, were first spotted together in 2011. While the pair briefly split in 2014, they rekindled their romance two years later. They announced their engagement in 2018 but broke up again in October 2019.
“We love her,” Teddi, 43, shared when recalling her memories of Meg. “Things happened, but we were ecstatic and we still are. Like, she’s such a good person in all of our lives. So yeah, we appreciate Meg always.”

Justice said she will never forget one of her first meetings with Ryan. At the time, she couldn’t help but confess her love for one of the actress’ most iconic roles.
“I think I told her right away, ‘Just so you know, Teddi and I know every line to You’ve Got Mail,’” she said with a laugh. “[Teddi] was so embarrassed that I said that.”
Teddi replied, “I was like, ‘Play it cool, don’t be all uncool.’ And then I was like, ‘We do. You want to see us?’”
In June 2023, John said he still has nothing but affection for his ex-fiancée. At the same time, he hinted that he may not have been the best partner.
“I love Meg Ryan. I went with her for 10 years,” the musician said in an interview with Esquire. “She doesn’t love me so much. She’s a great girl. I’m just a s****y boyfriend.”
Elsewhere in the podcast, Teddi and Justice — whose mom is Victoria Granucci — joked that they didn’t approve of every one of John’s girlfriends.
Teddi acknowledged her sister’s comment that Ryan was a better partner “compared to some other people.” (John has previously been linked to producer Kristin Kehrberg, Christie Brinkley, Jamie Sue Sherrill, a.k.a. Nurse Jamie and others.)

“I love that you had to call out the other chick,” Teddi said without naming names. “Do you think people are going to figure out who the other chick is? She was a famous one and she licked it.”
While Justice also wasn’t going to share any names, she brought up a memory of when the mystery woman “shooed me away to order room service once, and I was pregnant.”
Teddi replied, “When we were at Craig’s for dinner and we were about to walk out and we were still going through the back, but she opened up her cosmetic mirror to touch up her lips. I was actually done.”
