Our ambition is to train compassionate, complete, ethically discerning doctors who, throughout their extensive five-year Medicine Degree and placements, will be exposed to comprehensive and diverse experiences, bringing them closer to the health challenges facing the public today and in the future.
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding medical professional and educator to fill the role of Founding Dean of the St Mary’s University Medical School.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to lead the Medical School through the next phase of its development. The Dean will provide the strategic, academic and operational leadership necessary to deliver the vision, design and implementation of the new Medical School, embedding an outstanding student education and experience within a developing research culture.
In accordance with the business plan, the Dean will be responsible for overseeing the GMC approval process and instituting an ambitious strategy that will deliver a highly successful new medical school. The Dean will also be responsible for ensuring that the mission, values and ethos of St. Mary’s University are reflected in our medical education programmes.
The successful candidate will be an established leader with a deep understanding of the strategic imperatives of a contemporary medical school, and a passion for medical education, scholarship and research. A dynamic individual with a collaborative, inspirational approach, the Dean will bring a strong personal commitment to high quality, inclusiveeducation and widening access, and a proven track record of effective senior leadership. Candidates will be highly effective in developing and maintaining purposeful partnerships with strategic partners such as NHS trusts and other key health bodies in the region and nationally.
